According to a new panel research study from Market Force Information—conducted in March with 6,100 participants—milk is most popular private-label product. Out of the 84 percent of shoppers surveyed who know their store sells private-label milk, nearly one-fifth said they buy it all of the time and 45 percent buy it some of the time. Moreover, when it comes to dairy, only 7 percent said taste is a factor. So why the interest in private-label milk? Price. A total of 81 percent of consumers mentioned price as a factor, 53 percent mentioned value, and coupons and promotions rank third with 16 percent mentioning it as a purchasing factor.
